Anthony Prince Part Two: Pause Practices for Types 1, 2, 3 and 4

During this episode we talk with yoga teacher, Anthony Prince, about how solitude, stillness and intentional pause practices can benefit Enneagram numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. Anthony is a musician, a yogi, wellness coach, a mindfulness teacher, and personal trainer. An athlete most of his life, he first fell in love with yoga in 2014, but after taking a powerful yin yoga class on a bright New Year’s Day in 2016, he realized there was more to it than the physical aspects. From then on, Anthony knew he needed to become a teacher and in 2020, as the world transformed, he received his CYT-200hr Yoga certification from Tough Love Yoga in Atlanta, GA. Through several years of self-development as an artist on the road, Anthony learned the importance of self-growth through self-love and compassion and incorporates these ideals in every aspect of his teaching. Since starting his journey through yoga, Anthony has made it his soul’s purpose to commit himself to the service of others by providing wellness coaching through the lens of yoga as a foundation to uplift the spirit, encourage radical self-expression, address unaddressed trauma, and to create a new sense of balance in personal well-being. Part 2 with Lisa McBryde: How Enneagram Types 3-9 Can Have Stronger Boundaries

Part 2: Boundaries with Lisa McBryde. In this Enneagram +Yoga podcast episode, we explore the importance of the importance of boundaries for Enneagram types 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Lisa was born and raised a country girl from Jasper, Tennessee and was the son her Dad never had. She wanted to be a nurse for as long as I could remember and followed that dream to become a RN in 1982. Her specialty was Oncology and she administered chemotherapy to cancer patients and supported them in a very difficult time. Over 30 years ago she “fell” into yoga and like nursing it also became a passionate calling. Lisa tries to teach in such a way that she pushes the student, yet encourages them to feel a connection with every breath they take. She says she is a Type A personality and owns it 100% and so the yin part of her practice was initially a challenge, but now is such a welcome release. Her first certification was with Yoga Alliance. She had initially been teaching in the fitness industry and this option was part of that discipline. She met Sara Mingus and she steered her toward 200 hour teacher training with Dolly Starvos. Dolly and Lisa really connected and her eyes and mind were opened to so many things. This discipline called yoga serves its students individually and meets them where they are. She then completed Level I training with Baron Baptiste and learned so much about sequencing and assisting. She loves assisting and believes human touch is an integral part of the practice. What started as flexibility training to balance cardio and weight training, has led to this awareness of the breath, the mind and the body, as one, and no two days are the same. Several years ago Lisa stepped out on her own to experience something different when she discovered a love and passion for fly fishing as it takes you to beautiful, calm places but forces you to focus. She is a confident, compassionate woman, and mother, who truly loves serving others.

Dr. Lauren Sparks, Enneagram 2, Speaks about How Enneatypes 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 Respond to Suffering

During this interview we learn from Dr. Lauren Sparks about suffering and the Enneagram. Dr. Sparks is an Enneagram 2 and the founder of Untamed Iona, a private medical practice specializing in the treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and erythromelalgia (EM). Why did she choose these specialties? Because she has suffered and healed from both CIRS and EM. Dr. Sparks own disease process taught her that no person will ever be more motivated to help you heal from a disease than someone who had it themselves. Dr. Sparks is also the founder of The Einstein Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to thinking outside the box to fund uncommon research and treatment for underacknowledged diseases. The Einstein Mission’s current research focus is on erythromelalgia and CIRS. Dr. Sparks is a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner. In addition, she completed post-doctoral physician certification administered by Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker in the “Shoemaker Protocol.” Why did she deeply desire to complete training under Dr. Shoemaker? Because she credits Dr. Shoemaker’s brilliant research with saving her life. Although traditional medicine has little to offer those suffering with erythromelalgia, treatment of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) would correlate with a complete remission of Dr. Sparks’s erythromelalgia. Dr. Sparks finds most people challenged with CIRS also benefit from emotional support. Due to her training as a therapist prior to becoming a medical provider, she runs low-cost Community Support Circles for those challenged with CIRS, erythromelalgia, or the “double whammy” of both diseases. What she hears frequently is that it was a godsend to be part of a group finding creative ways forward together. Dr. Sparks has collaborated with The University of Melbourne’s Dulwich Centre to help educate other therapists and community workers on how to support those challenged with pain and chronic illness. Dr. Sparks has received post-doctoral training in functional medicine and functional psychiatry. In addition, she enthusiastically studied functional nutrition during her doctoral program. She enjoys weaving integrative practices into her work as she found functional medicine to be supportive of her own healing. Prior to transitioning into a medical provider role, Dr. Sparks spent time working in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). In addition, she spent almost a decade in hospice. She has also worked in psychiatric settings. Dr. Sparks believes her wide range of experiences, especially including her own illness and recovery, make her the medical provider she is today. Many say she is the most compassionate medical provider they have ever met… she says that is so only because she has quite literally walked in their shoes. What does Dr. Sparks most want you to know? “You’ve lost too many years to illness already, but with treatment of CIRS using the Shoemaker Protocol, you’ll find you have much living left to do!
